Acai cames from north of Brazil, state of Para, Amazon region. People are consuming acai puree for hundreds years. Its prodigious helath properties are legenday in this country. Since 5 years ago, popularity of acai spread from the north and northern regions of Brazil to the rest of the country and to North America. The acai berry turns out to be the fruit of the moment in the international arena.

The acai grows on plam trees of the Amazon rainforest. The acai berry, which looks like a blueberry, is composed of 17% fruit pulp and 83% inedible seed and must be carefully processed into a puree. The most common way to eat acai is consuming the fruit puree. In Amazon, people eat the acai along with tapioca flour, fish or dried meat, but in the South of Brazil it is mostly consumed along with guarana and diced fruits, such as banana and strawberries.

With the explosion of the consumption in the overseas market, it is possible to find acai yoghurt, acai poposide, energy drinks, or even in barbecue sauces. The acai is one of the healthiest berries in the world. Many publications have put the following properties forward: antioxidant anergy, nutrional source, cardiovascular health.
